‘Maryam Ki Dastak Coverage’ Reaches New Districts
Residents of Kasur, Jhang, Attock, Bhakkar, Khanewal, Muzaffargarh, Bahawalnagar, Sialkot, Jehlum, Mianwali, and Sheikhupura are among the latest beneficiaries of ‘Maryam Ki Dastak’ coverage, joining the initial 11 districts of Lahore, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, Bahawalpur, Dera Ghazi Khan, Sargodha, Sahewal, Okara, and Pakpatan.
Launched on June 4, 2024, ‘Maryam Ki Dastak’ started with just 10 essential services in Lahore and has since expanded its offerings to over 60 services in 22 districts. The program addresses critical public needs, such as Driving Licenses, Police Department services, Excise and Taxation, Local Government, Board of Revenue, and Lahore Development Authority (LDA) services, as well as Social Welfare and Livestock & Dairy Development services, among others.
The initiative leverages the ‘Dastak Doorstep Services App’, which allows citizens to request services online or via the 1202 helpline. Once a request is made, trained Dastak Facilitators deliver the required services directly to citizens’ homes, working on a commission-based model that not only ensures efficient service but also provides employment opportunities.
According to PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf, “The ‘Maryam Ki Dastak’ initiative is setting new standards for public service delivery in Punjab by ensuring convenience, transparency, affordability, and broad access. The program also empowers citizens to become facilitators, offering new avenues for employment through the Dastak Facilitator App.”
This expansion underscores the government’s commitment to leveraging technology to make public services more accessible and improve governance across the province.
