Pakistan Cricket Squad Announced Major Changes; Babar, Shaheen and Rizwan Excluded

Pakistan Cricket Squad announced for the upcoming T20 series against Bangladesh, planned to be played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. the announcement was made on Wednesday, May 21, 2025, by PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board).

The squad finalization has been based on players’ ongoing performance In the PSL (Pakistan Super League). This will be the first series played under the command of newly appointed head Coach, Mike Hesson. Additionally, Salman Ali Agha will lead the team along with Shadab Khan as Vice-Captain.

The squad also experiences the return of senior players including Fakhar Zaman, Hassan Ali, Saim Ayub, Hussain Talat, all-rounder Faheem Ashraf and wicketkeeper-batter Sahibzada Farhan. Fast bowlers Mohammad Wasim Jr. and Naseem Shah have also successfully made their comeback in the national series.

However, many notable names have been removed from the final squad. Fast bowler Shaheen Shah Afridi, who recently played in the T20 series against new Zealand, has been dropped. Former captain Babar Azam and Senior wicketkeeper Mohammad Rizwan are missing from the squad and once again overlooked by Selectors.

Today, they announced that other players, including Abbas Afridi, Abdual Samad, Jahandad Khan, Mohammad Ali, Umair Bin Yousaf, Sufyan Muqeem and Usman Khan, have also been left out of the squad.
