Asia Cup 2025: Will Pakistan and India Play Together?

Asia Cup 2025 has been forgotten between Pakistan and India disputes. The relationship between these countries got worse due to four days of intense fighting before the announcement of a ceasefire in May 2025.

According to the ACC (Asian Cricket Council), India will host the Asia Cup 2025 in September but uncertainty looms over tournament hosting. A top official of BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India), speaking to Reuters (a British news agency) on Tuesday, 3rd June, 2025, refused to confirm anything, saying, “ To be honest, we had no discussions within the Board about the Asia Cup.” He further states, “We have been busy with PSL (Indian Premier League) and then we have India’s tour of England. These are our immediate concerns.”

Similarly, PCB (Pakistan Cricket Board) has also not confirmed its team’s participation in the Asia Cup in India. The PCB told Reuters that they will figure it out when the times come.  Mohsin Naqvi, ACC president and Head of PCB, was unavailable to comment.

However, on Monday, 1st June 2025, the ACC postponed the Women’s Emerging Asia Cup, which was scheduled to start on Friday, 6th June 2025, mentioning weather conditions and the spread of the viral disease “Chikungunya” (A virus disease caused by mosquitoes) in the host country, Sri Lanka.

Furthermore, India is also scheduled to host the Women’s 50-Overs World Cup this year but Pakistan will play all their matches in Sri Lanka. The ICC (International Cricket Council) made all the arrangements for it. India refused to play Champions Trophy 2025  in Pakistan and played all its matches in Dubai, including the final match on March 9, 2025.

The Indian cricket team’s head coach, Gautham Gambhir, opposes playing in Pakistan, even at neutral places but he states that he will accept whatever decision the BCCI makes.
