New Motorway Rule in Pakistan Announced for All Vehicles Nationwide

New Motorway Rule in Pakistan has been introduced to improve road safety, making tire inspection compulsory for all vehicles before entering national motorways.

The directive was issued on the instructions of Federal Communications Minister Abdul Aleem Khan after a fatal accident raised concerns about vehicle fitness on high-speed roads. Authorities have now ordered strict checking at entry points to prevent accidents caused by tire bursts.

Under the new policy, any vehicle found with worn-out, damaged, cracked, weak, or expired tires will not be allowed to enter the motorway network. The rule applies equally to private cars, buses, and commercial transport.

Mandatory Checks at Entry Points

The National Highways & Motorway Police has been directed to conduct inspections at toll plazas and interchanges. Officers will visually examine tire condition before granting access to drivers.

Officials say tire failure remains a major cause of high-speed crashes, especially during long-distance travel. The decision follows a deadly incident on the M-9 Motorway, prompting the government to take immediate preventive action.

What Drivers Should Do

Motorists are advised to:

  • Check tyre tread depth and pressure

  • Replace old or expired tires.

  • Avoid motorway travel with damaged tires.

Authorities clarified the measure is meant to save lives rather than penalize drivers. Vehicles failing inspection will simply be turned back until repairs are made.

The government says the new enforcement will reduce accidents and ensure safer travel on Pakistan’s high-speed road network.
