Islamabad City Set to Become a ‘Model Digital City’: IT Minister

Islamabad is set to undergo a remarkable transformation, positioning itself as a “Model Digital City,” an initiative that promises to integrate cutting-edge technological advancements for the enhanced benefit of its residents. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Information Technology, this ambitious project aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of digitalization, making Islamabad the pilot city for this groundbreaking initiative.

The “Model Digital City” project will enable Islamabad’s residents to access over 150 government services through a newly developed City Super Application. This app is designed to streamline and simplify access to various governmental and administrative services, including those provided by the Capital Development Authority (CDA), Islamabad Police, health services, and educational institutions. By encouraging widespread use of the app, the initiative aims to enhance efficiency and convenience for citizens in their daily interactions with government entities.

In addition to service integration, the app will feature an innovative e-parking facility, aimed at optimizing parking management and reducing congestion across the city. This is just one of many features that will be available in the “Model Digital City.”

Furthermore, the project will see the installation of AI-integrated smart cameras throughout Islamabad. These advanced cameras will play a crucial role in monitoring street crime, boosting security, and improving traffic management for both residents and visitors. This aspect of the “Model Digital City” initiative underscores the government’s commitment to creating a safer and more efficient urban environment.

Minister of State for IT and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, has emphasized the importance of digital transformation as a cornerstone of the country’s development. She affirmed that under the leadership of the Prime Minister, the Ministry of IT and Telecommunication is dedicated to advancing the Digital Pakistan Vision, with the “Model Digital City” project setting a new benchmark for progress in the digital arena.
