Natalie A Baker Takes Charge as Deputy Chief of US Mission in Pakistan

Natalie A Baker takes charge as deputy chief of US mission, marking a significant change in the United States’ diplomatic team in Pakistan. Natalie A Baker, who previously served as the Director of the Office of North African Affairs within the US Department of State’s Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, brings a wealth of experience to her new position.

A Princeton University alumna with a bachelor’s degree and a master’s degree in public policy from Harvard University, Natalie A Baker is also a 2017 Distinguished Graduate of the National War College at the National Defence University in the US. Her extensive diplomatic career includes her recent role as Deputy Chief of Mission at the US Embassy in Doha, Qatar.

Natalie A Baker’s prior postings have seen her serve in various capacities, including Special Assistant in the Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs, Consular Officer in Islamabad, and Cultural Officer in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. From 2009 to 2011, she was a Political and Economic Counsellor in Libya, where she played a key role in normalizing US-Libya relations after a 30-year hiatus. Her tenure in Libya ended with the US Embassy’s evacuation during the Libyan Revolution in February 2011.

Additionally, Natalie A Baker has served as Deputy Chief and Chargé d’Affaires at the US Mission to Libya, Deputy Director of the Iran Regional Presence Office at the US Consulate in Dubai, and Economic Counsellor at the US Embassy in Kuwait, where she collaborated with the Department of Defence to support the withdrawal of US forces from Iraq.
