Pakistan Apparel Exports to China Increased by 5% Reaching a Trade Milestone

Pakistan apparel exports to China have seen a significant boost, with a nearly 5% increase in the first seven months of 2024. The total value of apparel exports reached over $18.03 million, demonstrating the growing demand for Pakistani garments in the Chinese market.

Recent data shows that men’s apparel exports amounted to $13.10 million, while women’s clothing exports were valued at $4.93 million. This marks a notable rise compared to the same period last year, when men’s apparel exports were $12.65 million and women’s apparel stood at $4.66 million. Men’s apparel exports have particularly shined, with a 6% growth this year.

Ghulam Qadir, the Commercial Counsellor at the Pakistan Embassy in Beijing, attributed the success of apparel exports to China to the high quality and competitive pricing of Pakistani products.

Pakistan’s strategic location, which allows for efficient land trade with China, combined with zero-tariff benefits under the China-Pakistan Free Trade Agreement (CPFTA), has given Pakistani apparel exports a competitive edge. These advantages have not only facilitated easier access to the Chinese market but have also made Pakistani apparel more attractive to Chinese buyers.

To further strengthen trade relations, a Pakistani textile delegation will participate in the upcoming China International Import Expo (CIIE 2024), where they will showcase their latest designs. Additionally, a large Chinese delegation is set to attend the “Texpo” in Karachi this October 2024, a premier textile and leather exhibition organized by the Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP).
