Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa Emphasizes Women Property Rights in Inheritance

In a compelling address at the Justice Conference in Islamabad, Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa Emphasizes Women Property Rights in Inheritance. He asserted that men violate Islamic teachings by depriving women of their rightful property inheritance. Justice Faiz Isa emphasized that it is a misinterpretation and misuse of Islamic principles when sons claim inheritance over property, alleging it was gifted to them following their father’s demise.

CJP Faiz Isa underscored the importance of Article 25 of the Constitution, which mandates equal treatment for all citizens, including women. He highlighted that this constitutional guarantee ensures women’s representation across all sectors. Women are not only granted reserved seats in the National Assembly but also compete and win general elections, becoming parliamentarians. This, he noted, is a testament to the fundamental rights and the pivotal role women play in the democratic process of Pakistan.

The Chief Justice’s remarks call for a re-evaluation of societal norms and legal practices concerning women’s property rights, urging adherence to both Islamic teachings and constitutional provisions to ensure justice and equality for women in Pakistan.
