PAKSAT MM1 Satellite Launch Biggest Milestone for Pakistan Space Agency

Pakistan has achieved a significant milestone in its space and digital development with the successful PAKSAT MM1 Satellite Launch, marking the country’s first multi-mission satellite. After completing rigorous testing, PAKSAT-MM1 is now fully operational, heralding a new chapter in enhancing communication infrastructure across the nation.

At the PAKSAT-MM1 Satellite Application Conference, Minister of State for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, reaffirmed the government’s dedication to leveraging space technologies for national growth. “The success of PAKSAT-MM1 will revolutionize our communication infrastructure, benefiting all sectors of society,” she stated.

The launch of PAKSAT-MM1 is set to significantly improve internet connectivity, particularly in remote areas, which aligns with the government’s goal of creating a digitally connected Pakistan. “Digitalization is key to socio-economic prosperity,” Shaza Fatima Khawaja emphasized, highlighting the satellite’s potential to bridge the digital divide.

Additionally, Shaza Fatima Khawaja noted that Pakistan’s ranking in the UN’s e-governance development index has improved by 14 points, positioning the country in the high tier of digital e-governance in Asia.

Chairman of SUPARCO, Muhammad Yousuf Khan, praised the PAKSAT-MM1 team, describing the satellite as a vital asset for socio-economic development and a boost to Pakistan’s presence in the global space industry. “PAKSAT-MM1 will provide essential services to unconnected regions, including DTH, community internet, tele-education, and tele-medicine,” Khan said, encouraging local industries to partner in future space initiatives.

PAKSAT-MM1 is expected to remain operational for over 15 years, offering broadband, VSAT connectivity, and other services, significantly contributing to Pakistan’s ambition of becoming a digitally empowered nation. The satellite operates in C, Ku, Ka, and L bands, showcasing Pakistan’s advancements in space technology.

The event attracted government officials, industry leaders, and experts who celebrated the satellite’s role in enhancing communication infrastructure and promoting national development.
