During an e-Kachhari held in Lahore on Monday, Pakistan Railways Executive Officer Amir Ali Baloch shared the exciting update. He highlighted the department’s commitment to improving train services with the introduction of modern, locally manufactured coaches.

Baloch made a significant announcement, outlining plans to introduce a Green Line-style train service connecting Lahore and Karachi. This new service is expected to significantly enhance travel options for passengers, providing a premium and comfortable experience. The Green Line-style trains will feature modern amenities and efficient services, similar to those available on top-tier routes.

  1. Islamabad to Lahore: This route will connect the federal capital with the cultural and economic hub of Punjab, offering travelers a modern and reliable travel option for both business and leisure trips.
  2. Karachi to Quetta: Enhancing travel between Karachi, the largest city in Pakistan, and Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan, with a focus on comfort and speed.
  3. Peshawar to Lahore: Connecting the northern city of Peshawar with Lahore, this route aims to offer seamless travel for people across Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
  4. Multan to Karachi: A key route for southern Punjab, this Green Line-style service will offer faster and more comfortable travel between Multan and Karachi.

The Pakistani government is accelerating efforts to finalize the financing agreement for the ML1 Railway Project, which will enhance connectivity from Karachi to Peshawar. Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal urged ministries to expedite the deal ahead of Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang’s visit for the SCO summit on October 14-15, 2024.
