Govt to Launch Pakistan First Green Tech Hub to Foster Eco-Friendly Solutions

The Prime Minister’s Coordinator on Climate Change, Romina Khurshid Alam, has announced that Pakistan to launch its first Green Tech Hub (GTH), a cutting-edge facility aimed at transforming the nation’s energy landscape and reducing its carbon footprint. The Green Tech Hub will focus on fostering green technologies, renewable energy solutions, and eco-friendly innovations to drive sustainable development across the country.

Speaking at a webinar titled ‘Creation of GTH,’ organized by Paklaunch.com in collaboration with the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination, Romina Khurshid Alam highlighted that the Green Tech Hub, a government initiative, is being developed in partnership with private sector stakeholders, academic institutions, and international leaders in green technology. The project is designed to position Pakistan as a regional leader in sustainable innovation.

She further revealed that the Ministry of Climate Change & Environmental Coordination is preparing to showcase impactful projects at the Pakistan Pavilion during the upcoming UN-led global climate summit (COP29). The summit, set to take place from 11 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan, will host between 40,000 to 50,000 delegates from over 192 countries.

“The Green Tech Hub will serve as a strategic connector, linking Pakistani innovators with global investors to leverage climate finance for innovative projects,” said Romina Khurshid Alam. “Our goal is to attract both local and international investments to help Pakistan meet its environmental sustainability and climate resilience targets.”

At COP29, global leaders will work to finalize a new collective quantified goal on climate finance, while addressing critical issues like adaptation, mitigation, and the transfer of climate technology. Pakistan aims to align its climate projects with both adaptation and mitigation priorities, attracting vital investments for future projects.
