Maryam Nawaz Initiates Drone-Satellite Based ‘Environmental Monitoring System’ in Punjab

In a decisive move to enhance environmental protection, CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz has initiated an Environmental Monitoring System in the province, leveraging state-of-the-art drone and satellite technology. This integrated approach aims to effectively monitor and manage pollution levels across Punjab.

As part of this initiative, authorities have launched a crackdown on violations of environmental regulations. The Environmental Monitoring System employs drone and satellite surveillance to detect factories that are not complying with established environmental laws and are contributing to excessive smoke emissions. This proactive strategy allows for the identification of non-compliant facilities and facilitates timely interventions.

Recently, a joint operation by the Environment Protection Department and district administration resulted in successful raids on two factories located on Sheikhupura Road in Gujranwala. The raiding team dismantled kilns responsible for significant environmental pollution and subsequently sealed both factories. Senior Provincial Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb commended the swift actions taken by the Environment Protection Department, emphasizing the government’s commitment to the campaign initiated by CM Maryam Nawaz.

Marriyum Aurangzeb stated, “We are determined to accelerate our efforts in this preemptive environmental protection campaign.” She underscored the urgent need to eliminate factors contributing to smog, which annually claims the lives of approximately 250,000 individuals in Punjab. In a rallying call, she urged every citizen of Punjab to actively participate in the government’s anti-smog initiatives.

In addition to her environmental initiatives, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz took a moment to connect with the community during her return from the ‘Children Nutrition Program’ ceremony in DG Khan, where she stopped for tea. She assured residents that both she and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif are focused on providing relief to the public regarding rising electricity bills. The Chief Minister highlighted the government’s efforts to reduce the prices of essential goods such as flour, sugar, ghee, pulses, and vegetables, aiming to alleviate the economic burden on the people of Punjab.

On Pakistan Navy Day, CM Maryam Nawaz praised the dedication and sacrifices of the Pakistan Navy personnel, noting their critical role in safeguarding the nation’s coastal boundaries during historical conflicts. She acknowledged their extraordinary achievements and reaffirmed the importance of their service to the country.
